Learning About Wildfires

On this day, the focus was on understanding wildfires and their impact on the environment. We started discussion on what causes wildfires, and the importance of fire safety. Then students participated in a simulating controlled burn to understand the effects of fire on the ecosystem. Our team reserved a forest fire themed "critter crate" from Colorado Department of Parks and Recreation in order to provide materials for our curriculum regarding forest fires.
